If you are already in Georgetown, this is a good place to stop.

Joseph Abrams is our favorite bartender and happens to be an Auburn grad.

Baked & Wired

In Georgetown on Jefferson overlooking the charming canal. Real baristas, amazing coffee and baked goods. If you want cupcakes come here. ( Whatever you do, do not wait in line at Georgetown cupcake.... you won't be allowed at the wedding :)

Cafe Saint Ex

Favorite Cocktail here is a bee-in-a-beer: Lagunitas IPA, Honey-whisky, and a honecomb. Great for just drinks, brunch, lunch or dinner. On 14th Street

Bar Pilar

Casual small bar, great small plates to share. On 14th Street.

Standard DC

The closest thing we have to a beer garden, this mostly-outdoor gated space is full of picnic tables, pulled pork sandwiches, grilled corn, and other love-able qualities. On 14th Street

This also backs up to Dumbarton Oaks Park, also free, beautiful, and worth the walk down the paved hill.

Jack's Boathouse

Robert took me here on our first ( what I count as our first ) date weekend.

Adorable boathouse to hang out by the water and grill out. Or, rent kayaks and explore the Potomac.

The Kennedy Center

Head up to the bar, get a drink, and enjoy the sunset overlooking the Potomac on the expansive walk-around promenade. Another great cheap date....one of the best views in DC. No tickets needed.

The National Cathedral

Another great view of the city: you can climb the 333 step tower. About a 10 minute walk from the Marriot

Biking

Cruiser bikes can be rented at Capitol Bike Share. You can explore Rock Creek Park on the paved trails that run from Maryland all the way down to the National Mall. Or rent bikes in Georgtown and take the canal trail or Mt. Vernon Trail.
